Summer Program

Futures BTC is now enrolling children for this year’s social skills Summer Program. This ABA based Summer Program has be running since 2006 and has helped hundreds of children with improving their social skills. The program is designed for children who are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, including children with high functioning autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, and PDD and exclusively for those who would benefit from increasing social skills, communication skills, appropriate play skills and cooperative play.

During the Futures BTC Summer Program, we teach social skills in an entertaining atmosphere amid the types of play and activities that appeal to our children. Your child will have fun while making friends and expanding their social repertoires in the process.

A typical day for our children includes games, puzzles, crafts, gross motor activities, and lots of peer interactions. Futures BTC children go on lots of exciting adventures! Some past outings included trips to the beach, zoo, bowling, mini golfing, not to mention the wildly successful Futures BTC Camp Carnival featuring a bouncy house, games, puzzles, art activities and snow cones!

Each week of the program has a new and exciting theme and social lessons to explore with lots of fun corresponding activities. At the conclusion of each day, parents receive a written summary of the social skills targeted and enjoyable ideas for promoting carryover in the home. Our strategies are evidence based, and you can be sure that they are anything but boring!

What is the Summer program?

Futures Behavior Therapy Center offers a full-time ABA-based Summer program dedicated to social interaction that focuses on teaching communication skills, appropriate play skills and cooperative learning.

Who can attend?

Children ages 2.9-14 who would benefit from a group-based social skills summer program and do not require a full-time 1:1 ABA therapist. During the summer, our program includes role model peers who are often (but not always) siblings of children with autism spectrum disorders. Peers must be selected by an intake and the cost is $600 (9 weeks) for the summer program. Please note that certain groups may fill up sooner than others and parents are encouraged to contact us as soon as possible.

Is my child a candidate?

All families interested in their child(ren) participating in the group will need to attend a 30 minute placement evaluation, so that our team can discuss placement and determine which group, within our program, will be most beneficial for your child. During this evaluation, parents can also discuss additional services and the amount of support required for each child.

Who is running the groups?

Each group will be led by one of our experienced and motivating ABA therapists and overseen by an experienced BCBA. Our unique combination of research based methods, social skills curriculum, speech and occupational therapy techniques insure the best combination for progress for all of the children. Futures will have trained ABA assistants in the program to help with student activities, games, bathroom breaks, lunch, snack time as well as to attend the outings with our other experienced staff.

When does the program run?

The 9-week program will run from Monday, June 26 to Friday, August 25.
